Daniel L. Nelson, Esq.
Here we have a resume that outlines an impressive employment history outside of law which is likely unmatched by any lawyer today. Dan’s early days were spent as a journeyman and carpenter foreman in the commercial construction trades over a 10-year period. This allowed him to obtain hands-on experience and knowledge of injuries and liability. After graduating from San Diego State University in 1967, Dan was recruited as Assistant Registrar and Admissions Officer at the University of California, San Diego. Five months later after the Director left, the Chancellor offered Dan the vacant position. Choosing not to accept the offer, in 1968 he was recruited to serve as the Director of Admissions at the California Western University, which became the U.S. International University, San Diego, where he spent the next 3 years. Following that time, Dan was recruited by the U.S. Department of State and served as a Foreign Service Officer and Assistant Deputy Director. Dan’s tenure in Washington D.C. lasted for 3 years at which then he chose to depart in order to attend Northrop University School of Law here in Los Angeles. He graduated in 1981. Upon graduation he joined the firm of Leach, Biesty, & McGreevy here in Los Angeles – and some 3 years later he became partner – transforming the firm into Biesty, Nelson, McCool & Garrety, an Insurance Defense firm. It was here he acquired extensive knowledge of the personal injury industry – defending as many as 25 major insurance companies. It was also at this point at which he learned that most plaintiff Attorneys were far less competent than expected – and for the most part shied away from litigation – including Arbitrations, Mediations, and Trials. Dan was admitted to the California State Bar in 1990, California State Court in 1990, U.S. District Court in 1991. He has been Commissioner for the State Bar of California and board member of various charitable and non-profit organizations. He has also been a member of the California Trial Lawyers Association since the mid-1990s as well as the Los Angeles Trial Lawyers Association and the Los Angeles County Active Referral Panel for Injuries/Accidents. It was in 1992 that Dan decided to apply his insider knowledge of the Insurance industry towards representing plaintiffs in personal injury cases. Dan established his own personal injury law firm, and brought in Silvio Natale, a brilliant Attorney in his own right, to form Nelson & Natale, LLP. Since then, Dan has actively fought for over 7,000 injured victims in all settings of personal injury. Together with Silvio they have recovered hundreds of millions of dollars in Arbitrations, Mediations, and Trials against all major insurance carriers. Dan firmly believes that experience and talent is key. The weakness of the vast majority of personal injury Attorneys is that they have little-to-no litigation experience – resulting in them and their clients being strong-armed by Insurance companies. What sets Dan and Silvio apart from the rest is the fact that they are seasoned Trial lawyers. Dan and Silvio will never attempt to circumvent aggressive litigation in place of an easy settlement. Nelson & Natale will always strive to maximize the client’s compensation – and are confidently prepared to engage in battle in order to achieve the maximum result for the client.
